Family Vacation - Part 2

On our way to Yellowstone, we decided to stay the night in Rexburg, Idaho. It was definitely more affordable, but the drive to and from nearly killed us. We arrived in Rexburg in the evening of our 3rd day, so we decided to just swim and go to bed.

4th Day of Fun!!:

Today we were up early and on the road by 8am. We got to the entrance of West Yellowstone around 10:00am. We had plenty of snacks and drinks for our trip around the National Park. Scott and the kids haven't ever been here, it's been A LOT of years since my last trip. This was going to be so exciting! Exciting it was, as we were driving down the road, the cars in front of us started to quickly pull off to the side of the road. Scott just drives slow and we notice the most beautiful Elk across the river. So we pulled off and Scott snapped some great pictures.

Off we go, first right turn to head to our first stop "Old Faithful", we stop and inch a long the road every 5 or so minutes. We grew up in California, we are so used to stop and go traffic. The surprising thing is that we were all very calm and patient while waiting. Unlike some other drivers. What was the hold up? A mass crossing of buffalo and their offspring. It was an incredible site. The kids were so excited to see buffalo and up so close to our car.

I have to say, at this point I am feeling good about my decision to take this kind of trip (vacation). To be honest, this morning as we drove here I was feeling a little apprehensive, maybe this wasn't going to be as fun as I had planned it in my head. So far so good, we are seeing animals and the kids are excited.

We finally arrive at "Old Faithful". We don't know if we just missed it's spray or if we are just in time. So we sit and we wait and we wait. Then we wait some more. Trent and Paige are getting ansi, so they start to run around. "Old Faithful" does a little teaser spray, everyone oohs and ahhs. Emmett is getting a little impatient at this point, he's locked in the stroller. Garhett being the best big brother, decides to take Emmett for a little walk. After our 45 minute wait, there she blows! It was the most amazing thing, I caught the whole thing on video. As soon as it ended, Garhett came running up to me and said, "Mom, that was awesome!!!, so worth the wait. Good job Mom."

How do you top "Old Faithful" I was beginning to wonder. We grabbed some lunch
and back on the road for more sites and adventure. Did we get some adventure, at one point, the rain/hail/snow was coming down so hard along with the lightening flashing in the sky, made it hard for Scott to see the road. At this point of our trip all the kids were sleeping, which was nice. Here is a little video of what the weather outside sounded like in our car.

We did an entire loop around Yellowstone. We have spent 9 hours and 160+ driving miles in the park. We have seen so many animals and some amazing landscape. Tonight is the 4th of July, and we were hoping to get back in time to enjoy the fireworks. Instead, we enjoyed watching them for our car, over the countryside. We saw fireworks in each town we drove through from Montana back to Rexburg, Idaho. What a great end to an adventourous day.
