Fall Sports

It's that time of year again.

Trent is playing soccer. He is playing with the same kids for the past 3 seasons. They are really starting to groove. This year we have graduated to actually being able to play the positions on the field including goalie. Exciting times!!!!

Garhett has decided to play baseball again. Garhett took the Spring off cause of the not so good experience he had last fall. But this fall he's back in the swing of baseball and seems to be really enjoying it!!! I am happy with the coaches and the boys on his team. Should be a great season of fundamental ball. They didn't have their uniforms for the first game, but here is Garhett in action. Garhett plays catcher, third base, and is hoping to start pitching.

No Couch Potatoes

We have one rule in our house - all children must be active. We don't care what sport or activity you do, but you will do something. NO COUCH POTATOES in our house. Since Garhett decided to not continue with baseball he has ventured in many different sports. This summer he has decided to try flag football.

Garhett is on the red team "Red Blast". He has such a fun time learning the game and then playing it. We have really seen an increase in Garhett's self esteem. He has been able to try the position of quarterback, and threw a beautiful pass to his teammate. He has played center and hiked the ball. He has even had the chance to run long and catch an amazing pass from the quarterback.

Of course Grandma and Grandpa have been to every game cheering Garhett on. We are so proud of you Garhett. I am so happy to see my son step out of his comfort zone to try all different types of sports. Great job Garhett!!!!

Dance Dance Dance

This weekend was Paige's dance recital. Thursday we had pictures at the studio. We started Saturday morning off with a dress rehearsal. The girls were a little nervous; they started off with their tap routine and by ballet, Paige was in the groove.

Saturday evening was the actual performance. Paige did awesome. She danced so well. Here is Paige with her Grandma and Grandpa. She received flowers and a ballet bracelet. Here is Paige with her brothers, who were excited to watch the performance, but not excited for pictures. Garhett knew quite a few of the girls dancing (a few were in his school class). Trent knew a gal from his preschool class last year.

Race for the Cure

Today was Boise's Race for the Cure. I walked the 5k with Deidra and her girls. It was a lot of fun to get out and exercise for a great cause. We were able to complete the walk in 51 minutes. Before the walk started we walked around to the different vendors for free stuff or in Scott's words "we tailgated"!

To warm us up before the race began, they had some ladies up on stage doing jazzercise. That was fun to try and do jazzercise in a group of thousand(s) of people!

This was a funny - crazy sign: Hiking For Healthy Hooters!

10 day spring break for the kids...

Our kids had an assignment while we were gone to Europe, they needed to take pictures and document all the fun things they were doing with grandma and grandpa.

How do you tell your parents (your kids' grandparents) THANK YOU? We have been so blessed with my parents living close by. Fortunately they are retired and are able to support the kids' every sporting event, dance recital, Emmett hospital stay and babysit while we vacation. Mom and dad, Thank you and we love you!

Journal by Garhett:

Day 1: Opening day of soccer. Trent scored 3 goals!

Paige at our house

Having fun at Grandma and Grandpa's!!!

Day 8: Playing at indoor play land in Twin Falls

Day 9: We went fishing and we caught 6 fish! Paige was so funny. She was the first to catch a fish. When she reeled it in and saw it, she screamed and ran.

Everything between pretty much stunk! The weather was cold, snowy and rainy the whole time mom and dad were gone.

A new sport for Garhett

Sports - where do we begin. Baseball and softball run in my blood. I started watching at a very young age and playing at age 10. I was excited for our boys to be of age to play sports. And so it began. When Garhett was around 3 or 4, we enrolled him in a variety of sports so that he could be exposed to a little of everything. When we arrived in Boise, we signed him up for soccer, he played for a couple of seasons, and didn't care for it too much. Then he tried baseball. He started in T-Ball, went through Coach Pitch, and this past fall he was old enough to advance to "real" baseball. This is where the kids actually pitch. Fall ball was the deal breaker for Garhett. He lost his love for the game. So we were back at the drawing board of what sport to try next.
We have a rule that our kids have to play some type of sport to stay active. We don't care what sport they play as long they enjoy doing it. I asked Garhett what sport he would like to try next. Off the cuff he said, "Tennis." "Tennis? Okay, I will research where you can go for lessons." So I found a place that teaches entry level tennis lessons to youth.
Tonight was Garhett's first night of tennis practice. Unfortunately, mom wasn't able (aloud) to go, so before dad left with Garhett, I made him take the camera to capture this moment. Here is Garhett enjoying his first tennis practice.
